Quantum Correlation Games

چکیده
A new approach to play games quantum mechanically is proposed. We consider two players who perform measurements in an EPR-type setting. The payoff relations are defined as functions of correlations, i.e. without reference to classical or quantum mechanics. Classical bi-matrix games are reproduced if the input states are classical and perfectly anti-correlated, that is, for a classical correlation game. However, for a quantum correlation game, with an entangled singlet state as input, qualitatively different solutions are obtained. For example, the Prisoners’ Dilemma acquires a Nash equilibrium if the players both apply a mixed strategy. It appears to be conceptually impossible to reproduce the properties of quantum correlation games within the framework of classical games. PACS: 03.67.-a, 02.50.Le

The Relationship Between Classical and Quantum Correlation in Games
Quantum games have been argued to extend classical games (Eisert-Wilkens-Lewenstein [8, 1999], Meyer [18, 1999], and subsequent papers). Levine [17, 2005] has questioned this assertion. We offer what we believe to be the simplest expression of the disagreement. In doing so, we also establish a general correspondence, at the probabilistic level, between the analyses of correlation in game theory...

Article history: Received 22 October 2008 Available online xxxx JEL classification: C72 D80 Quantum games have been argued to differ from classical games by virtue of the quantum-mechanical phenomenon of entanglement. We formulate a baseline of classical correlation – which takes two forms according as signals added to the game are or are not required to be independent of chance moves in the un...
متن کاملInvestigations in quantum games using EPR - type set - ups by Azhar Iqbal
Research in quantum games has flourished during recent years. However, it seems that opinion remains divided about their true quantum character and content. For example, one argument says that quantum games are nothing but ‘disguised’ classical games and that to quantize a game is equivalent to replacing the original game by a different classical game. The present thesis contributes towards the...
متن کاملConstructing quantum games from a system of Bell’s inequalities
We report constructing quantum games directly from a system of Bell’s inequalities using Arthur Fine’s analysis published in early 1980s. This analysis showed that such a system of inequalities forms a set of both necessary and sufficient conditions required to find a joint distribution function compatible with a given set of joint probabilities, in terms of which the system of Bell’s inequalit...

Quantum entanglement has been recently demonstrated as a useful resource in conflicting interest games of incomplete information between two players, Alice and Bob [Pappa et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 114, 020401 (2015)]. General setting for such games is that of correlated strategies where the correlation between competing players is established through a trusted common adviser; however, players ne...
